LOL, What God?

Women are to be circumcised beginning at ages as early as 5 years old- because the Quran says so. Are you kidding me?

Honestly when someone decides to ask me why I am so hateful towards religion- its because of things like this. And it’s a shame also that people can look into the Muslim religion and say “That’s why Muslims are wrong. Christianity is good though.. nothing like this” It disgusts me how uneducated a person can be about something they feel so passionately about. In the Christian bible there are countless horrid, cruel, unimaginable things that their supposed God expects from a person.

Religion- I can honestly say doesn’t seem to have any beneficial purpose. It’s a shame so many people believe it does.

No no, I wasn’t planning on ranting about Lady Gaga’s current single. While her song did bring alot of suppoorters to the lgbt community I do hope this post makes it to many people as well.

Currently I’m sturggling to understand why in gods name (which one? I don’t care pick one) when you ask people why they practice the faith that they do, they respond with “I was born this way.” Honestly I cannot wrap my head around this reasoning. I do in fact understand when they reitterate and say that they were brought up in that faith but why oh why do they continue on believing false statements. When you are born, you are born atheist, although any believer would die denying that fact. 

I remember being in fifth grade when a few of my classmates were trying to classify what religion they were in. I was around 10. I had told my friends I was Catholic which I explained was a part of Christianity. The thing thats wrong with this was- I had no idea what Catholism represented at all. All I did was repeat what my family had implanted into my brain. At that age, I could care less about a divine being. All I knew was that I hated sitting in church, and that if I didn’t say my prayers I was headed for something bad- whether it be hell or a strong scolding and spanking. I didn’t really know the difference.

I didn’t have an identity at 10 years old, i only reflected the identity of my parents and unfortunately it stayed that way for about five more years after that. 

This is simply what is called ‘Pascal’s Wager.’ Adults use this method of argument on children.

“Wouldn’t you rather believe in god and be wrong, than not believe in god and be wrong? If If you believe in god and you’re wrong, you’ve lost nothing, but if you don’t believe and you’re wrong its all suffering from there.”

Sound familiar? My parents told me that when I was only nine years old.

If I find out there is a Jesus? Why would that affect me?

I would think that if Jesus does in fact exist (assuming he take the place of God) that he himself would know who I am as a person and whether or not my christian faith was strong, he would disregard such nonsense as faith and see the reasons why I present myself strongly as an atheist and understand my reasoning. I would imagine he would look beyond all of the humane imperfection and view me as one of his creations. He made me the way I am (in this context). And since he is all knowing he saw the forthcoming of my atheism. He is then flawed for creating me as an atheist and knowingly having me destined for hell. So then, your kind god is no longer kind. He is playing a game. We are his pawns. 

But back to reality. We aren’t pawns. We aren’t playing a game of fate. Jesus isn’t real, and life can go on.

Now let me ask you, replace the word ‘Jesus’ with the word ‘God’

What happens if you die, and you find out there is a God?

The problem is you can apply to anything. You can switch the gods around and apply it to anything whether its Zeus, Allah, Horus, Rah and yes Jesus too. Who are you to say one exists and the other doesn’t. 

We then have an endless range of gods to choose from. 

I leave you with the words of Stephen Roberts, “I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

It is unfortunate that I have to remain a closeted anti-theist for my family’s sake.

If they knew.. I’m afraid that I would be marked an outsider..

I am entirely sick of hiding who I am.
